The first time Canto really clicked for me in ARC Raiders was not during a clean ambush. It happened in a cramped apartment after a fight had already gone wrong: my rifle was empty, an ARC patrol was moving through the hallway, and an enemy Raider was pushing from the stairwell. That is the situation this Rare SMG is built to handle. It uses Medium Ammo, draws quickly, and gives an aggressive player a practical answer when a fight collapses into doorways and short corridors. Keeping a few useful ARC Raiders BluePrints in mind can also help shape a wider progression plan, but the weapon itself deserves to be judged by how it performs during movement, not by its item rarity alone.

Canto Rewards Movement Before Aim

Canto works best when you treat close range as a sequence of short decisions. Sprint toward cover, stop long enough to aim, fire a controlled burst, then move before the opponent can settle on your position. Holding the trigger while standing in the middle of a room wastes the SMG's strongest quality: immediate pressure from an unexpected angle. The weapon feels especially comfortable inside offices, stairwells, workshops, and narrow residential rooms where enemies have limited space to strafe. A player who constantly changes elevation or slips behind doorframes will usually get more value than someone who tries to win every exchange through raw DPS.

Build Around the Fight You Want

Canto should occupy the close-range slot in a two-distance loadout. Pair it with a rifle that remains reliable across courtyards, rooftops, and long streets, then let each weapon handle its own job. A slower primary becomes much less dangerous to carry when Canto is ready for the sudden indoor push. The reverse is also true: if your main weapon already dominates buildings, another SMG may add little beyond extra Medium Ammo demand. Medical supplies, a few spare magazines, and a throwable for forcing movement often matter more than squeezing a small theoretical improvement from the secondary slot.

When the Map Gives You an Advantage

Do not fire simply because another Raider appears on your screen. Across an open yard, Canto has to work harder to maintain pressure, and missed shots become expensive during a long raid. Use the map to shorten the engagement. Rotate through connected rooms, take stairs instead of exposed alleys, and use parked vehicles or industrial machinery to break sightlines before committing. If the opponent backs away into open ground, let them go unless the objective demands a chase. Canto becomes more dangerous when the enemy is forced to enter your space, especially after you have heard footsteps and already chosen the next piece of cover.

Against ARC, Flexibility Matters More Than Specialization

The SMG can remain useful when an ARC encounter interrupts a player fight or catches you while looting indoors. You can keep firing while repositioning instead of losing time to an immediate weapon swap. That does not make Canto the correct answer for every mechanical target. Armored ARC units still reward purpose-built tools, careful weak-point shots, and ammunition planning. Canto is better understood as insurance: it helps you survive the messy moments between planned engagements. This is valuable during event raids, where a single unexpected patrol can turn a quiet loot route into a rushed extraction.

Test the Loadout Across Real Raids

Run the setup for five ordinary raids and note where successful fights actually happen. If your wins come from interiors and your Medium Ammo use stays manageable, Canto is matching your habits rather than simply looking good in the inventory. If you keep taking fights across fields, rooftops, or wide plazas, change your route or choose a different secondary. The strongest Canto players are not trying to make one weapon cover the whole map; they are shaping encounters around its strengths. That approach makes progression more consistent, and researching ARC Raiders BluePrints buy options can support future loadout goals without changing the core lesson: Canto wins when distance is controlled before the first burst, not after it.
